Some maternity sessions feel a little more personal, especially when you already know the family and have been sharing in the excitement of their growing little family. This was one of those sessions. I was so excited to photograph this beautiful family as they prepared to welcome their newest little addition. Knowing them personally made the whole afternoon feel that much more special. This wasn't just another maternity shoot. We were celebrating a little baby that so many of us were already eagerly waiting to meet!


We headed to Sunset Beach for a relaxed afternoon by the ocean. Barefoot in the sand, with the sea breeze blowing and the most beautiful Cape Town light, it was the perfect setting. And, of course, there was plenty of laughter. Everyone was in such good spirits, and the session unfolded in the most natural way. A little playing around, lots of cuddles and those lovely in-between moments that often end up being everyone's favourites.


I love how the beach gives families room to just be themselves. There's no rush, no need to overthink things, and certainly no expectation that everyone should look perfectly posed in every photograph. It's about enjoying the time together and letting the moments happen.


Sunset Beach is such a beautiful location for maternity photography in Cape Town. The open shoreline, soft coastal colours and gorgeous evening light make it especially lovely for those natural, timeless portraits. With the warmer weather returning, I'm so happy to be back photographing families along our beautiful coastline.


And while the scenery was certainly gorgeous, the real highlight of this session was the excitement surrounding this much-anticipated baby. It's such a privilege to photograph these seasons of life, but even more so when the people in front of the camera are already part of your own story.
